Scope
As this is the most present risk in the continental territory, it will allow the observation of burned areas in the municipalities of Vila de Rei, Mação and Sertã, by the forest fires of the summer 2019, as well as the recovery of burned areas destroyed by the June 2017 fires in the municipalities of Pedrogão Grande and Castanheira de Pera.
Itinerary (1 day visit)
Coimbra (D. Dinis), Ferreira do Zêzere, Vila de Rei (Centro Geodésico de Portugal), Mação, Proença-a-Nova, Sertã, Pedrógão Grande, Castanheira de Pera, Figueiró dos Vinhos, Penela, Coimbra (D. Dinis).
Visit limited to 50 participants.
Goals
- General observation of the consequences of forest fires of recent years in the Center South of Portugal, and in particular:
- the forest fires of summer 2019 in the municipalities of Vila de Rei, Mação and Sertã;
- the recovery of housing destroyed by the fires of 2017 in the municipalities of Pedrogão Grande and Castanheira de Pera.
- Observation of the lack of forest planning and management and the widespread lack of recovery of the burned areas and the consequences in terms of increased risk of forest fire.
